About Colorado Fishing Adventures

Colorado Fishing Adventures was established in 1990 by Gary Wilmart, an avid fly fisher, and several of his fishing friends. The group was some of the best fly fishers in the region. Guiding quickly grew from a sideline to a full time guide service.

This came to the attention of the Broadmoor Resort, a Five Diamond Mobil Resort.

Colorado Fishing Adventures is a full service guide operation with a tiny fly shop in the heart of The Broadmoor, a luxurious retreat conveniently located just minutes from downtown Colorado Springs.

The current owner, Tony Gibson helped manage Colorado Fishing Adventures for the past seven years and is now the owner. Colorado Fishing Adventures is what a realtor would call a turnkey operation. While we cater to all levels of fly fishing experience, a preponderance of our guests are first time beginners. Colorado Fishing Adventures provides guides, equipment, flies, transportation, lunch and license in an all inclusive price.

Our tiny 8 by 14 foot fly shop is often referred to as the Fly Box. We don’t stock junk. There is no room for gadgets designed to catch fly fishers. Everything in our shop is tested and used by our guides. All of our gear is solid, no nonsense equipment. You can buy more expensive and/or cheaper stuff. You won’t find better value anywhere.

OUR WATER
Colorado Fishing Adventures and Broadmoor Sporting Classics guides mostly on the South Platte river on public water. We have more than 19 miles of river access for trophy brown trout, rainbow and hybrid cuttbows. Lake fishing on Eleven Mile, Spinney and Antero reservoirs is world class. From the comfort of a powerboat to tiny pontoon boats the fishing is always interesting and mostly successful (If anybody guarantees fish on any guide trip beware…they are fibbing or they have tame fish in mind.)

Sporting Classics is our other outfitter. This company, owned and operated by the Broadmoor resort has traditional access to U.S. Forest Service water in Eleven Mile and Cheesman Canyon. Several of our Colorado Fishing Adventures guides are also Sporting Classic/Broadmoor guides.
